The transformation has begun!

The majority of the BID work (relating to Broadmead West & Merchant St North) in Broadmead was always scheduled for Phase 2 which started in early May 2008.  The works on Broadmead East and Merchant Street South including The Podium, which are being carried out by The Bristol Alliance are well underway.  All works are scheduled to be completed prior to the opening of Cabot Circus in September 2008.

It is our plan to consult and liaise with all retailers continually.  A meeting was held on 28th April for all retailers in the areas which will be affected by the BID works in Broadmead West and Merchant St North.  Ashridge are the contractors for the work in these areas and they are on schedule to have the majority of the works completed in time for the opening of Cabot Circus on 25th September 2008.

If you have any queries, please call us on 0117 925 7053.

Progress Report

We are delighted to advise that the Broadmead BID which is now well into its third year is progressing to plan and is on budget.  We have been hugely successful in securing additional voluntary contributions from the private sector which was always one of the main aims.  To date the fund is £6m and The South West RDA are currently considering granting the BID £600,000 to make sure that the works are completed to the very highest standard.

Following consultation with the retailers in 2005, the BID strategy identified a range of specific, tangible and measurable benefits to transform the commercial performance of Broadmead.

Environmental improvements were undoutedly seen as the overall priority by the Broadmead retailers.

During November and December 2006, a brand new range of high quality stainless steel bins, bollards and cycle racks was installed in Union St, Haymarket, The Horsefair and parts of Bond St.  This greatly reduced the clutter, which has always been one of our main aims.

After a period of tendering to potential contractors for the works on Broadmead West and Merchant North Ashridge were appointed. The BID team and Broadmead management are working closely with Ashridge to ensure that any inconvenience for retailers is kept to a minimum.

The New Street Design

During the consultation period with businesses in Broadmead it was made clear to us that we should always aim to link Broadmead with Cabot Circus by using quality, uniform, street design and signage.  Continually we have worked with the developers to ensure that Broadmead links as seamlessly as possible with Cabot Circus.
