Broadmead Baptist Church
The Broadmead Baptist Church, situated on Union Street is known locally as “the church above the shops”. The current church opened in 1969 although a Baptist church has occupied the same spot since 1671. The church is open for quiet prayer Monday – Friday, from 9.30 – 4.30pm and at lunchtimes visitors are welcome to take their sandwiches and enjoy the peace and quiet of The Undercroft. The church has an extensive suite of rooms which are available for hire.
Castle Park, just 50 meters from Broadmead is on the original site of a castle which was built after the Norman Conquest of 1066. The archaeological remains of Bristol Castle keep and curtain wall can still be viewed today. The park offers a quiet place to sit or stroll, next to the waters of the city harbour. The park is also a focus for many pieces of artwork, from creative seats and a carved throne to a unique water fountain. Children can explore the “castle” playground in the attractive leafy setting, and you can take time out from the hustle and bustle of the city.
