The Broadmead expansion

The Broadmead expansion will transform the city centre in 2008, creating a four storey flagship House of Fraser, Harvey Nichols and more than 113 new shops, along with three stylish new shopping streets, vibrant public areas and a dramatic and innovative glass roof structure.

This development is a great opportunity for existing retailers – business will spill over, new shoppers will be attracted to central Bristol and there will be increased footfall, sales and profits.

The BID will make the environment in existing Broadmead more appealing, thus all stores in Broadmead will benefit from this major investment and will see Bristol catapulted into the top 10 of retail shopping destinations.

Achieving this is the main focus of the Broadmead BID.

The BID area

The BID area shown here, represents the heart of shopping in Bristol.
All businesses which fall within the purple shaded area on this map and have a rateable value above the threshold (£12,000) are included in the BID.

The team behind the BID

The Broadmead Board, which represents all
retailers in the area, is leading the BID. Over the
past decade this team has won vital resources for
Broadmead, providing consistent services of the
highest quality, including cleansing, policing,
providing floral features and generally improving
the look and feel of the area.

A committed team is led by Broadmead BID project manager M. Ayres, supported by J. Hawkins and J.Hirst from the Broadmead management team.

In bringing together the retailers, represented
by the Broadmead Board, Bristol City Council,
Business West and the police, our approach
demonstrates that there is a clear, shared vision
and determination to develop a BID that achieves
serious progress in improving the existing Broadmead retail area.

Property owners back the BID

Key property owners have announced that they will make a major investment in existing Broadmead, following the YES vote.

It is our ambition to see the whole of Broadmead transformed as a single retail experience of the highest quality.

P. Vaughan, Project Director, Bristol Alliance.

The Mall Galleries team understand the importance of presenting Broadmead as a consistently excellent retail experience for the shopper. We therefore support the BID.
