Broadmead and The Mall Bristol celebrate their independent stores

As part of this Saturday’s American Independence Day, Broadmead is seizing the opportunity to celebrate its very own independent retailers, and help out many cash-strapped shoppers!
On Saturday 4th July independent stores in Broadmead and The Mall Bristol (formerly The Galleries), including hair salons, fashion stores and jewellers plus many more, will offer shoppers the opportunity to take advantage of fantastic discounts for one day only.
As part of the event, there will be a free prize draw with a chance for Broadmead visitors to win £150 of vouchers to spend in any independent store.
Also, in keeping with the American theme, the first 250 lucky shoppers will receive free blueberry muffins to munch whilst browsing the fantastic selection of independent stores.
Jo Hawkins, Broadmead project manager, said: “Not many people realise that amongst the big brands and well known high-street retailers Broadmead and The Mall Bristol boasts over 40 independent stores. This weekend is an opportunity for us to raise the profile of these exciting, and very eclectic retailers, and reunite shoppers with what makes Broadmead so individual.”
As well as many great shops, ShakeAway (located in The Arcade) an inventive milkshake maker and recently named ‘UK Retailer of the Year’ at the UK Shopping Centre Industry Awards, will also offer 10% off its drinks or a free topping.
Rachel Bos, ShakeAway’s Bristol manager, commented on Independents’ Day: “We are really looking forward to taking part in Saturday’s celebration of independent stores. We anticipate it is going to be a very busy day and are excited about meeting new visitors to Broadmead, what flavour milkshake will you choose?”
The main event will take place on the pedestrianised area outside Marks & Spencer, however activity will move throughout Broadmead including The Mall Bristol and The Arcade.
Independents’ Day takes place from 10am – 4pm on Saturday 4th July. Shoppers need to collect a free flyer to qualify for the in-store discounts.
