THE GREENING OF JOHN WESLEY'S CHAPEL
Thursday, 2nd September 2010
Work has begun on creating a garden in the heart of Broadmead at the John Wesley Chapel, which dates back to 1739, making it the oldest Methodist building in the world.
The Chapel, which is a Grade One listed building, is the cradle of the early Methodist movement begun by John Charles Wesley - now an international Christian denomination of over 75 million members.
The work, which will include greening the courtyard of the Chapel and creating an 18th Century style garden for visitors and shoppers to enjoy, is sure to complement the transformation of Broadmead that has taken place in recent years.
The Chapel is open from Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm, and welcomes over 25,000 visitors per year.
