This HALLOWEEN Lush celebrates 'THE DAY OF THE DEAD'

Friday, 21st October 2011

This years Halloween products have been inspired by the Mexican celebrations for ‘Day of the Dead’, where they celebrate the souls of their dearly departed. They gather old photos and belongings of their loved one and celebrate their life, remembering good times and toasting old memories. The celebrations are typically Mexican, so colourful and vibrant!

NEW! Skullduggery bath ballistic (£2.75) ...
Don’t be deceived by this handsome fellow. Our homage to Mexican ‘sugar skulls’ are not delicious candy treats – they’re fizzy, uplifting bath ballistics! We used brightening and refreshing lime and neroli for the fragrance and olibanum (or frankincense) to help that citrusy smell stay on your skin until the witching hour and beyond. Skullduggery is an eerie but magical celebration for your bathtub.

Calacas shower jelly (£2.95) …
Calacas is skeleton in Spanish, so this colourful jelly is designed to represent a dancing skull – another iconic image of the ‘Day of the Dead’ celebrations. Scented with uplifting, invigorating lime and jelly bean this wibbly wobbly jelly will get your lovely bones dancing, however dreary the autumn days are. Also infused with aloe vera gel, to soften and soothe the skin, it is especially good frozen making for a great bracing, sharp shock in the morning - great if you've overdone it with the tequila the night before!

Lady Catrina soap (£2.95 for 100g) ...
A spectacular hat-shaped soap decorated with bright, neon flowers. Lady Catrina was an etching by Jose Guadalupe Posada that he made in the early Twentieth Century to parody that the rich and fashionable, despite their pretensions to importance, are just as susceptible to death as anyone else. Since then, Lady Catrina has become an iconic image for the ‘Day of the Dead’ celebrations ... And she wore big, colourful hats! This one has a zesty fragrance of fruit pastilles and freshly cut limes and Mexican agave nectar to soften your body and bring it back to life.

Other super-natural product ideas from LUSH ...

Add a touch of magic to your bathtime with the NEW Magic Wand reusable bubble bar (£4.95 for 100g). A brand new invention, swish this pink star-shaped bubble bar on a wand around the bath for Snow Fairy scented bubbles! It’s made with our multi-use bubble bar mixture, so lasts for many baths making it great value for money. Swish around the bath a few times for masses and masses of skin softening, vanilla and candy scented bubbles – ta da! Then pop it on the side for use another time. Limited edition, available from October 2011. Vegan

Cleanse your soul with Lush’s patent-pending two-layered bath ballistic Twilight (£2.95). Drop into a warm bath and become entranced as it serenely fizzes around the tub, turning the water a beautiful, hazy pink of frothy bubbles. The ballistic then gets to its inner layer and fizzes frantically injecting trails of blue into the pinkness, turning the water the deep indigo of a twilight sky. For those with vampire obsessions, this will help you sleep at night as it contains soothing and meditative lavender.

Conjure up Lush’s Dark Angels cleanser (£5.95 for 100g) to help transform oily skin into flawless skin. This charcoal based cleansing scrub will absorb excess oils and exfoliate the skin with black sugar, leaving it with a brighter appearance. There’s also nutritious and vitamin rich avocado oil to soften and nourish.

After cleansing, work a little magic on your skin with Lush’s extra light Vanishing Cream moisturiser (£16.75 for 45g). This low fat cream has minimal oil content and, abracadabra, will vanish into your skin as soon as you apply it. Contains essential oils, such as rose water, that are helpful for damaged and stressed skin.

Ceridwen’s Cauldron bath melt (£3.99) … a spell-binding concoction of walnut, tangerine, lavender, sandalwood, frankincense and rose to help enhance inner strength whilst rejuvenating, soothing and calming the skin. Once melted in the water use the muslin bag full of oats and flowers to gently exfoliate.
