TWO GIANT ADVENT CALENDARS IN BRISTOL CITY CENTRE OFFER DAILY PRIZES
Wednesday, 7th December 2011
Throughout December, families have the chance to win fantastic prizes every day as the doors open on two giant advent calendars in Bristol city centre.
The calendars can be found in the German Christmas Market on Broadmead East (near to Costa), and on the ground floor of Cabot Circus. Last Thursday 1st December, David Hasselhoff who is starring in Peter Pan at The Bristol Hippodrome, launched the advent calendar competition by opening door number one and handing out the first prize to a lucky family from Kingswood.
Until 24th December, both calendars will open every day with a message to remind the public to log on to www.visitbristol.co.uk to discover the daily prizes and enter the competition. Prizes include family tickets to watch Peter Pan at The Bristol Hippodrome along with prizes from the city’s extensive range of attractions, hotels, city centre shops and restaurants. Later in December when door number 24 opens, the prize will be a chance to meet ‘The Hoff’ in person after watching his performance on stage at the Hippodrome.
Jo Hawkins, City Centre Retail Manager, said: “The advent calendars give local people and visitors to the city the chance to win some of Bristol’s best tourism offerings. Prizes so far have included a VIP family day out at Bristol City Football Club, shopping vouchers, family tickets to Brunel’s ss Great Britain, and every day Peter Pan family tickets can be won.
“Everyone can enter by logging on to www.visitbristol.co.uk and competition entries can also be completed at the German Christmas Market beer garden on the Podium. Just ask for an entry form at the bar.”
The advent calendar at Cabot Circus is a three metre high and wide Swiss-style chalet and the German Christmas Market calendar is 8m long and 4m high.
As an additional treat for visitors to the German market, children will receive a little gift from Santa when he opens the door of the advent calendar at 4pm every day. The market is home to original homemade crafts, drinks and a variety of festive eats including gluhwein, bratwurst, waffles, crepes, apple rings, liquorice, chocolates and cakes. It is open Monday to Sunday 10am – 8pm and closes on 22nd December.
