Final Four Battle it Out to be Named ‘BROADMEAD’S CHRISTMAS CHOIR OF THE YEAR 2009’

Wednesday, 16th December 2009

Four schools are set to battle it out this Saturday 19th December as they compete to be named Broadmead’s first ever ‘Christmas Choir of the Year’.

Torwood House School and St Bernard’s RC Primary qualified in the first heat earlier this month, and are joined in the final by last weeks qualifiers Hanham Abbots Junior School and Almondsbury CE Primary School.

The finalists will take to the stage on Broadmead West, outside Marks & Spencer, for their twenty minute slot and perform four songs.  At least two songs must be Christmas themed and the choirs will be judged on enthusiasm, musical ability and presentation. The judges will be representatives from Heart 96.3, The Evening Post, Zings Music and Broadmead management.

Heart 96.3’s Saturday breakfast presenters Gareth and George will be compering the day and Bristol’s very own Fame Academy runner-up Katie Lewis will be exclusively performing as well as presenting the prizes to the lucky winners.

Jo Hawkins, Broadmead Project Manager, said: “The standard of the choirs has been incredibly high – we’ve been really impressed with the effort everyone has put in. Thank you to all the choirs who have taken part and congratulations to all four of the schools who are going through to the final this Saturday. We wish them the best of luck and can’t wait to find out who has the ‘x-mas factor’.

“We really wanted to build on the family-friendly atmosphere in Broadmead this year and the choir competition has been a huge success. Trading has been really busy and the competition has definitely added some festive spirit.  The feedback from shoppers has been really positive – the competition has added another dimension to their shopping experience as well as the great variety of shops and value for money already on offer in Broadmead.”

The schools are now in the running to win some amazing prize packages including £1,000 of music equipment for first place, £500 for second place and £250 for third place.

The school in fourth place will receive goodie bags full of Christmas treats.
